Membership/Registration Rules for Convention Participants

All Participants

All participants – session chairs, discussants, paper presenters and roundtable members – who are Slavic, East European, and Eurasian studies scholars in the US and abroad must be current ASEEES members. If you are not currently a member or have not renewed your membership for the current calendar year, you must do so upon receiving notification of proposal acceptance, which should be announced in late April.

Registration Waivers for ukrainians

Due to the ongoing war in Ukraine we recognize the challenge some of our scholars face in purchasing membership or convention registration this year. Ukrainian scholars and graduate students residing full time in Ukraine, or displaced outside of Ukraine because of Russia’s war in Ukraine, may complete this request form by October 12 to request membership and/or a registration waiver. To qualify for registration, you must appear in the program as a participant. Registration requests will not be reviewed until June 2026.

Scholars and Professionals

Scholars and professionals outside the field of Slavic, East European, and Eurasian studies may request to be exempted from the membership requirement only by completing this form. Please note that to be outside of the field means that a presenter’s professional work does not focus on the SEEES region, the presenter has not participated in other SEEES related conferences, and would otherwise not benefit from a membership within the field. Those outside the field MUST still register for the convention.

Presenters

If a presenter’s membership requirement is exempted, the participant must still register for the convention. Please note that it is less expensive to join at the affiliate member level than to pay the non-member regular registration fee. Please consider becoming a member. All participants on panels/roundtables, members and non-members, must preregister and pay the registration fee. Please note that membership dues payment is not the same as registering for the convention.

Exhibitors

Exhibitors with an exhibitor badge do not need to register for the convention. If an exhibitor is participating on a panel/roundtable, she or he must be an ASEEES member and notify ASEEES of this status at [email protected] as soon as possible, but no later than September 1 in order to be included in the index of participants.
