Complimentary Press Registration and Media Badge

Credentialed working journalists will be provided complimentary press registration to cover the ASEEES Annual Convention. Members of the press should read the ASEEES Recording and Social Media Policy before requesting complimentary press registration.

Representatives of local or national newspapers (including local student newspapers); reporters for wire services; TV and radio reporters, producers, and crews; and representatives of news-oriented websites are eligible for complimentary press registration. When registering, members of the press should present an official press badge, a business card with their name and title and the name of their employer, or an original copy of a masthead with their name on it. Freelance journalists are welcome, but should provide a letter from an assignment editor or evidence that they have written two recent articles on a topic related to the annual convention.

To request a complimentary press registration and media badge, please write to [email protected]

Members of the press who have secured complimentary press registration will be provided media badges identifying them as working media. To pick up their media badges, journalists must come in person to the On-Site Registration Desk and present the appropriate press identification (see above). We will also honor on-site (“walk-up”) requests.

Media badges will contain the journalist’s first and last name, the media outlet’s name, and a ribbon that says “Media”.

Rules for Press Participation:

  • Media badges must be worn at all times when attending meeting sessions and events at the Annual Convention.
  • Members of the press must identify themselves as such whenever speaking with presenters or attendees, including during the Q&A portion of a session or when interacting with attendees informally.
  • Members of the press must obtain express permission to quote any convention session/event participants in their reporting.
  • Members of the press must obtain express permission to take their pictures and videos and to interview attendees.
  • ASEEES provides “no photo” stickers to attendees who do not wish to have their picture taken. Members of the press must take particular care not to take photographs or videos of anyone displaying a “no photo” sticker.
  • IMPORTANT: Upon leaving the Convention, members of the press must return their complimentary media badge to the On-Site Registration desk. Do not dispose of the media badge in public bins.

ASEEES reserves the right to deny media badges and to revoke registration of anyone who records sessions without appropriate permissions.
