ASEEES Signs MLA Statement on COVID-19 and Academic Labor

The Association for Slavic, East European, and Eurasian Studies, along with twenty other organizations, has signed a statement by the Modern Language Association calling on universities and colleges to implement practices that will mitigate the consequences of the COVID-19 crisis for graduate student, contingent faculty members, untenured faculty members, and international students and scholars. This specifically includes requesting a pause on the tenure clocks of juncior faculty members and time-to-completion measures for grad students, as well as an extension of coverage in vital areas such as health care, housing, and other benefits.
