Paul Goode

Paul Goode is Associate Professor of Russian Politics in the Department of Politics, Languages & International Studies (PoLIS) at the University of Bath. Since receiving his doctorate from Oxford in 2005, he has researched topics at the intersection of comparative politics and area studies with a focus on Russia and Eurasia. His current research focuses on everyday nationalism in Russia, for which he received a Fulbright Research Fellowship. He is the author of The Decline of Regionalism in Putin’s Russia (London, 2011), and he has published in a variety of journals including Ethnic and Racial Studies, Europe-Asia Studies, Nationalities Papers, Perspectives on Politics, Post-Soviet Affairs, Problems of Post-Communism, Russian Politics, and Slavic Review (forthcoming). In service to the field, Goode is the incoming Editor-in-Chief of Communist and Post-Communist Studies and Associate Editor of Nationalities Papers. He serves on the editorial boards for Russian Politics and Social Science Quarterly and the advisory board for Nations and Nationalism. Among organizations adjacent to ASEEES, he is a longstanding member of the Program Committee and advisory board for the Association for the Study of Nationalities. He also served on the international advisory board for the Department Development Partnership Program of European University at St. Petersburg. In leadership roles, he convenes the Research Group on Nationalism, Populism, and Radicalism and previously served as Deputy Head of PoLIS. Previously at the University of Oklahoma, he was founding Director of the Center for the Study of Nationalism, and Coordinator for Russian and East European Studies. He would welcome the opportunity to contribute to ASEEES as Member-at-Large on the association’s board.
