On Visa Processing Suspension by US Mission to Russia

UPDATE: ASEEES sent a letter to the US Embassy on August 31 and received a reply on Sept 11. We passed on the update from the embassy to the Russian participants who completed the visa form.

On Aug 21, 2017, the US Mission to Russia announced suspension of non-immigrant visa processing due to insufficient staffing. You can read the statement here.

ASEEES plans to write to the US Ambassador to Russia by no later than Sept. 1 to underscore the vital importance of US-Russian scholarly exchange that takes place at the ASEEES Conventions. We plan to include a list of convention participants who still need visas. If you are in this situation, please complete this form by no later than Aug. 30.

If you still need an invitation letter from ASEEES for visa application, please complete the request form now.

We are also trying to see what else can be done by ASEEES to mitigate this situation. If you have any suggestions, please contact Lynda Park, Executive Director, at lypark@pitt.edu.
