2025 Board Election Candidates Announced
The elections for the ASEEES Board of Directors are held annually in the summer. This year, there are four seats up for election: the President-Elect/Vice President, and the two Members-at-Large serving three-year terms from January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2028, and the Graduate Student Representative serving a two-year term from January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2027. Please note, only student members may vote for the Graduate Student Representative.
2026 VICE PRESIDENT / PRESIDENT-ELECT
The Vice President is elected annually by ASEEES members and is designated President-Elect. After serving one year as Vice President, they become the President the following year. After one year in the presidency, the President is designated Immediate Past President and serves an additional year as a member of the Board of Directors. (vote for one)
- Edith Clowes – Brown-Forman Chair Emerita in the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures at the University of Virginia
- David Cooper – Professor of Slavic Languages and Literatures at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
2026-2028 MEMBERS AT LARGE
Two members-at-large are elected each year by ASEEES members, to hold office for three (3) years. (vote for not more than two)
- Molly Brunson – Associate Professor in the Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures at Yale University
- Emily Greble – Nelson O. Tyrone, Jr. Chair in History and Professor of Russian and East European Studies at Vanderbilt University
- Christopher Hartwell – Professor of International Business Policy at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences and University Professor at Kozminski University in Poland
- Alexis Peri – Associate Professor of History at Boston University
2026-2027 GRADUATE STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE
- Nikoloz Nadirashvili – Ph.D. student in Art History at the University of Washington
- Graham Weaver – Ph.D. student in Comparative Literature at New York University

Paper ballots will be distributed to members without email addresses on file and those who have requested them. Contact us to request a paper ballot.
