Laura Schlosberg
MEMBER-AT-LARGE CANDIDATE
Laura Schlosberg is the Assistant Dean of Academic and Curriculum Support in the School of Humanities and Sciences at Stanford University. Earning her PhD specializing in nineteenth-century Russian history and literature, she also completed a professional certificate on Philanthropy and Non-Profit Organizational Leadership. Her first book, a biography of Zinaida Volkonskaia, is under contract with Academic Studies Press. She has published articles on Lidia Rostopchina and advising transfer students and provided data for an article evaluating the effectiveness of an undergraduate general education foreign language requirement. Her professional pathway spans many areas of higher education, from working as a graduate student in a Title VI Center to student life, from teaching and advising students, to roles in central offices focused on budgets, assessment, academic affairs, and policy.
She has served on and chaired the ASEEES Internship Grant Committee, the Committee on Careers Beyond Academia, and the Committee on the Status of Women in the Profession. In addition, she was elected to the Association of Women in Slavic Studies (AWSS) board and volunteered on two AWSS committees, served on the board of Project HEAL and as an annual fund representative for her undergraduate college. As an at-large board member, Schlosberg would bring a broad perspective on higher education, careers in the field beyond academia, and the external pressures facing members. ASEEES has been a thread across her career, and she would welcome the opportunity to support the organization on the board to ensure it remains a vital community for students and scholars.
