Griffin Creech Published “Borders in a Borderland: The Buryat-Cossacks and the Buryat-National Movement, 1917-21”

Griffin Creech, with the assistance of a Cohen-Tucker Dissertation Research Fellowship, published “Borders in a Borderland: The Buryat-Cossacks and the Buryat-National Movement, 1917-21” in Russian Review vol. 84, no. 3 (July 2025): 1-19.

The article examines the transition from empire to nation among the Transbaikal Buryats during the Russian Civil War, the persistence of estate-based identifications, and the difficulties this practice posed to Buryat nationalists.
