2026 U of Pittsburgh REEESNe Student Conference (Deadline Jan. 5)

March 20 - March 22

The University of Pittsburgh’s Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies, the European Studies Center, and the Graduate Organization for the Study of Europe and Central Asia are joining Yale University’s Macmillan Center to host the 2026 REEESNe Student Conference. To be held on Pitt’s campus on March 20-22, this FREE student conference will bring together students from across the northeast and beyond. Please encourage your undergraduate and MA-level students to apply by January 5 and present their research and experiences (and to be considered for funding for travel and accommodations, if they have need). Should your time allow, please feel free to ask your colleagues to send this information on to their own student lists.
As usual, the conference will feature panels of student research presentations, roundtables for sharing student experiences (with research, study abroad, internships, volunteering, etc.), a professionalization panel with alumni who have applied their REEES-related expertise to diverse careers, cultural events, and more. There are a couple of noteworthy changes to the requirements:
  1. Students outside of REEESNe’s member institutions may also apply to the conference this year. Preference for financial assistance will be given to graduate students in North America and to undergraduate or graduate students affiliated with REEESNe member institutions in the US Northeast.
  2. To allow us to organize this exciting, expanded conference, we are asking for earlier submissions (deadline: January 5).
  3. Students are encouraged to carefully review the conference website, including the themes and sub-themes in the conference description.
