Jeffrey C. Yelverton Jr.
Graduate Student Representative Candidate
Jeffrey C. Yelverton Jr. (he/him/his) is currently working towards his Ph.D. in Musicology at the University of Minnesota. He also holds a Master of Music History from the University of South Carolina, a Graduate Certificate in Creative Writing from Berklee School of Music, and a BMus in French Horn performance from Saint Cloud State University. He works for Minnesota Public Radio and American Public Media as a digital producer of classical music. He supports the digital portfolio of MPR/AMP by creating original content and providing production support for Your Classical Storytime, New Classical Tracks and various seasonal events. Before joining MPR/APM he was a content creator for the South Carolina Music Guide and a unit public affairs representative/bandsmen/historian for active duty and reserves bands in the army. He is an active member of Society of American Music, the American Musicological Society, and International Musicological Society, where he has given presentations in Minneapolis, Montreal, and Italy. His current research is on the literary influence of Alexander Pushkin on the Russian Romantic legacy of the Kuchka (The Mighty Five). He also works on promoting the histories of American military music and the music of underrepresented Americans.
